End of a busy week, the start of a new.

Last week was a very busy week for me. I finished 5 quilts in 4 days. I think that is the most that I have ever done. Mind you, a couple of the quilts were quite small and I was able to get them done quickly. Yesterday was a shopping day and I picked up some gems, among other things, to make flowers. This morning I made a flower using Rose's technique and love that way that it turned out.

Here are 2 videos of Rose showing her technique.

This afternoon I went to the library to make 10 Christmas Cards. I had a great time, as you can see by the ink on my hand in the previous photo. Here is a picture of some of the cards that we made.

New Kit in the Mail

Today I got a kit in the mail that I ordered from Marie at http://www.theprettypaperboutique.blogspot.com/
She does wonderful kits at very reasonable prices. This kit was called "First Blush" and it is absolutely beautiful. It was $17.00 US shipped. I think that is very good for what you get in the kit. Marie has a wonderful sense of colour and all of her kits are fabulous. I know that I will order more from her.

I won!!!!!

I can't believe it. I won a prize at the Scrapbeach challenge. I don't think that I have every really won anything before. The kit is absolutely beautiful. Here is the video that Hope has detailing the kit.

Wow, isn't it nice.

My messy craft room

Well, I survived doing all of the challenges yesterday but my craft room didn't. I thought that I would show you the mess that I made yesterday. I was just throwing everything around as I was finished with it. Now I will have to go and clean it up. I have to say that cleaning will not be as much fun as messing it up was.

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 6

Challenge number 6 was "Animal Crackers." We were to create a layout about an animal. I chose a photo of one of my donkeys. His name is Jack. A few years ago his mate, Jenny had a baby. I was out in the field trying to get pictures of the baby and Jack kept getting in the way. I finally took a picture of him. I think that he just wanted some attention!

This is a very simple layout. I think that I was really petering out by the time that I got to challenge 6. All in all, this was a great experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have a link on the right hand side of my blog to the Scrapbeach. I would encourage you to check it out and if you are interested join the beach.

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 5

Challenge number 5 was "Delicious and Nutritious." We had to use the following recipe:

1 paper clip
2 flowers
3 shades of ink
4 patterns of paper
5 photos
6 brads
I rose to the challenge and used 1 curly paper clip, cut in half, for my butterfly antennas. I used 2 flowers, I distressed the edges of my paper with green and purple ink, then stamped my butterfly in hollyhock and purple ink. That makes 3 shades of ink. I used 4 patterns of paper from Close to my Heart. As you can see, there are 5 photos taken in my garden this summer. . Finally there are 3 brads on the top and bottom right corners of the layout making 6 brads in total. I am very pleased with how this turned out. I just wish that I could learn how to mount my papers straight.

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 4

Challenge number 4 was to create a layout without using a paper trimmer. I have to be honest, this wasn't my favorite challenge. I hate cutting with scissors. I chose some photos from last year's halloween party at the library. This gave me a good opportunity to finally start scrapping those photos. I tore my designer papers with a ruler and measured and cut my photo mats with scissors. Did I mention that I hate cutting with scissors? I used my cricut and sure cuts a lot for my lettering and journal tag. All in all, I am pleased with the results and I have one more page done. Thanks Kathryn. I probably would never have started this if not for the challenge.

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 3

Challenge number 3 was to go into the photo gallery and scraplift an idea or layout from a photo there. I have to fess up that I scraplifted a layout from a card that I made. This was one of the last challenges that I completed and I was tiring out so I took the easy road. Does it make it any better if I confess that I originally scraplifted the idea from split coast stampers?

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 2

Challenge number 2 was "Scrap outside your box". You had to use a new product or technique. I have been thinking of adding some glitter to some embossing powder for a while now. I made a card with glitter mixed into silver embossing powder. I liked the results, but didn't like the card (it is the first card shown) so I made a second card with my new embossing powder. This card had many new products for me. I used a brand new stamp set and punch, new cording and a very different colour palette than I normally use. I am quite pleased with the results and am probably going to do more of these cards for Christmas.

Off to post challenge #3.

Life on the Scrapbeach Challenge 1

I joined a virtual scrap community called "Life on the Scrapbeach". Last night they had a virtual crop. What a blast! Kathryn, the host, issued 6 challenges during this crop and I have been working all day to complete them. I will post each challenge separately because I have problems if I try to post too many photos at once.

The first challenge was "{Page} Map to Treasure". We had to do a layout following a sketch provided. I have been working on a baby book for a friend and adapted this layout to fit my board book. It is kind of hard to see everything as there is a lot of blue on the page, but I am pleased with the way that it turned out. Off to post #2.

A new beginning.

I am going to try to keep a blog. Again. I wasn't happy with the host that I was using. It was very frustrating and I couldn't get the look that I wanted. Today I decided to try using Blogger. So far it seems okay. I am trying to get my blog up and running in between cleaning my kitchen cupboards. I would much rather do this than clean!
